Client was taking over a used vessel from another company, however they did not receive any data from the previous owner and approached us asking for a solution to set up the PMS. Since, no data was available it was difficult to proceed an inch.
VALAD then proposed to send a team of marine engineers for Data collection and create the EQ (equipment) list. Our team spent around 7 days on-board to capture details of machineries, thereafter they took physical Inventory of all spares in excel sheet with ROB and returned to office. Ship staff was requested to update the consumption or requisition/s in the same sheet.
The other problem was non availability of manuals so we put up a dedicated resource to source the manuals as per EQ list from our repository, internet and by contacting the makers. We were able to source manuals for all important machineries or about 70-75% of the total machineries on-board, which was sufficient to set up the PMS.
The database was populated in PMS at VALAD office in consultation with client’s team and their requirement. The latest ROB as received from the ship staff was updated before the data was synchronized with the ship PMS.
Needless to say client was extremely happy and satisfied with the complete solution and approach, which turned 360 degrees from where he started. We are preferred partners for any such requirement and client keeps sharing word of mouth and has given us couple of references till date.
